Aerial yoga in Toulouse: what your first class is like
Why the hammock is a good place to start
Aerial yoga looks like a circus act from the outside, and that puts a lot of people off before they ever try it. In practice the opposite is true: the hammock is a support. It carries part of your weight, it helps you find positions your mat practice resists, and it gives your spine a gentle traction you cannot get on the floor. Beginners usually find their first class easier than they expected, not harder.
Around Toulouse you now have several studios offering it, which is good news: the choice is real. The questions worth asking before you pick one are the same everywhere. How big is the group? Does the teacher follow your progress from class to class, or is every session a fresh drop-in? And is there one thing this studio does that the others simply do not?
What happens in a class at Harpang, minute by minute
You arrive at a garden shala in Aucamville, at the gates of Toulouse-Nord. There are seven hammocks, so the group is small by construction — the teacher, Angélique, knows your name in your first class and adjusts the practice to your level.
The class itself is aerial, in the hammock, or on the mat when the sequence calls for it. Then comes the part every regular member mentions: the last pose of the class is savasana, lying still in the hammock with nothing left to do, and while the room rests, Angélique — a musician before she was a teacher — plays the harp, live, for the whole class.
No recording stands in for it. As far as we know, no other studio around Toulouse ends every class with a live instrument, and it is the reason most first-timers come back. The trade-off we do not hide: our shala is small and in Aucamville, so if you live deep in the city centre and want a dense weekly grid, one of the larger central studios may suit you better.
What it costs, honestly
Your first discovery class is 16 euro, one time, no commitment. After it, if you want to continue, our long-time plans live on the studio's existing booking site: 80 euro for five classes, or 80 euro a month for unlimited classes, with a loyalty programme that adds a free class along the way.
Online booking on this site is not open yet — it is the very next thing we are building. Until it opens, you can leave your email and be told the day bookings open, or look at the weekly schedule to see the evening aerial slots, the ones with the most room.
Where to find it
The shala is at 1 Impasse Désiré Payen, 31270 Aucamville — a garden, a few minutes from Launaguet, Saint-Alban, Fenouillet and L'Union. The site is in English for now, and the studio welcomes you in French or in English; a full French version of this site is part of the next build.
This guide, and the site it lives on, are built and run by AI agents on NanoCorp for Angélique's shala — which is how it stays current while she teaches.
